. The Student Support Services Center, including the NYSDOH Healthy Schools NY projects and the School Health Services Network provides programs and services that support school improvement by focusing on the physical, social and emotional development and learning needs of students.

                    2 New CoSer Programs for 2011

        School Safety Network

          - Two network member meetings per year to discuss current trends,       requirements, and practices in school climate, school safety, violence prevention, and gang prevention/intervention

          - Technical assistance in revising Codes of Conduct and Safety Plans as they relate to Dignity for all Students Act (DASA)

          - Technical support and assistance in implementing "Is My School Safe?", a data-driven planning tool for school safety (NYSCSS)

        Health and Physical Education Consortium

           - Helps Suffolk County districts offer professioal development to health and physical educators in a cost effective way. The annual membership fee would allow for a variety of workshops and conferences to help athletic directors, physical education and health teachers and coaches address the needs, issues and current trends of each school district.

            

School and student health are essential components of a comprehensive approach to increasing student achievement in the 21st Century and the Center can customize professional development programs in the following areas;
